Tung Oil
Tung oil is an extract from the seeds of the tung tree which when applied to paints and coatings polymerizes into a waterproof coating.

Installation and Maintenence
- Sand the surface of new wood
- Dip a soft cloth/rag into the finish and rub on to the wood until the wood is saturated
- Allow each coat to remain on the surface for 20-30 minutes
- Drying process needs 24-48 hours
- For a waterproof surface, apply 3-4 coats
- For exterior use, apply brushing method and apply 4-6 coats on very porous wood
Interior wood surfaces mighty need another surface coat every 2-4 years and exterior wood every 1-2 years, depending on exposure to sunlight and wood species.
Maintenance is very easy. Light scratches can be removed with light sanding and the addition of another coat of tung oil finish.
Technical Details
- No hazardous or toxic material
- Produces a mildly disagreeable odor for a few days after it is applied. This odor lessens with time, however some find that it can persist.
